WELCOME TO ABUNDANT LIFE BLOG

My name is Marianne and I am so glad that you dropped by my little space here.  It is my goal that you would be encouraged, inspired and refreshed by your time spent here.  I live in Southern California and am a Christian wife and homeschooling mother of 8 beautiful children.

What this blog is about:

Family
From kids to marriage, from the practical to the philosophical, I share everything from How to Help Your Kids Choose Good Friends and Understanding Attitudes of Entitlement to Why I Believe in Marriage even after having been married for over 20 years.

Homeschooling
In my 17 years of homeschooling, I have learned a lot about managing a schedule and keys to successful time management, maintaining a healthy perspective and overcoming the learning struggles associated with Dylsexia (which 6 of my 7 reading-aged kids have.)  Click here to read my list of 10 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Homeschooling.

Understanding God

I used to strive to be a good parent, wife and Christian. I worried and planned and had a lot of expectations about how my life would be.  Then I learned that it is not until I lose my life that I gain it and that in the losing of self and growing in Christ – rest, peace and abundance are found.  This is the beautiful paradox of the Christian walk.  There are times that God’s ways don’t make sense.  Often times a simple shift in perspective (plus a steadfast amount of time spent reading the Bible) can help you overcome fears and doubts in your own life.

Comments, Discussions and Feedback:
My hope is that this space would be a place where a community of like-minded people could gather without fear of shame or rejection.  So hop in, leave a comment (found at the end of each post) and let me know what you think, how I can help or how you have been encouraged.  If you have been encouraged here, you can sign up for updates to be delivered to your email inbox, or follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
