Hello! It has been some time since I have tapped out a post here on Abundant Life. Life has been, well…abundantly busy – and that unfinished post on summer schedules and such is taunting me, challenging me to even pretend that there is some sense of routine in my home right now.
You have heard of Spring Fever? Well, what we have over here should be called the Summer Plague! Our days have been so relaxed {lazy?}, unmotivated {lacking purposeful purpose}, and resisting any sort of order that I find myself just blissfully wandering from the dirty breakfast dishes in the kitchen sink, stepping over PlayDoh, Legos and wet bathing suits with no real sense of direction beyond what is right in front of me.
When I read this post from Shelly over at her blog Life on the Wild Side {her last name is Wildman} it seemed like a format that might get me writing again. I am working on a pretty heavy series on homeschooling the dyslexic child so this Status Report format is just the light-hearted post I can handle at the moment.

Sitting… at my desk reading blogs, typing invoices for my husband’s business that goes crazy in the summertime, hoping for a blog post to come…
Drinking… sweet tea, which is only remarkable in that I am not from the south. I hear my southern blog friends blogging and tweeting about sweet tea so often, I had to try it. Heaven on ice!
Realizing… that trying to check off a certain amount of boxes from the summer ‘bucket list’ is placing burdens that I don’t need on me. Can you say library, sprinklers, play dates and pool? Uncreative maybe, but enough, for sure.
Googling… learning styles, how to make amazing cupcakes, homeschool methods. Work, play, work.
Loving… that my almost 2-year old is learning to talk, is wearing shorts so I can see his chubby legs and that I have more time now to just love on him all. the. time.
Thanking… the Lord for my hard-working husband and for being able to stay home with my kids.
Humbled… by God speaking to me through His Word in my desperate time of need.
Preparing… for next Fall when I’ll be homeschooling 5 kids with a 2-year old running around. Which, I might add that at my age is a daunting task. ;)
Enjoying… the cool days of ‘June gloom’ so that I can get my summer garden planted, weeded, pruned and in order before the blazing heat of July makes gardening miserable.
Missing… my two oldest kids who have moved out of town and whose busy lives mean I see them less and less.
Excited… for a girly movie night tonight while my husband is out of town on business. All boys are on notice that we will be watching as much of the last 2 and a half seasons of Lark Rise to Candleford {BBC} as we can this weekend!
Happy June, everyone! I hope your summer is relaxed {maybe not sooo relaxed} and that you are blessed!

Smiling over the thought of cute little toddler legs.
Thank you for your sweet comment over at Getting Down with Jesus. You encouraged me.
